Abstract

Family caregivers experience ignored situations by the current social security system and the family, as they don't have an opportune and efficient service to enhance the ability of home care and the recognition of their work. These aspects allowed nurses to inquire some basic aspects such as the characterization, the importance of their work, necessities, life quality and the way to live this experience. The program "Caring the Caregivers ®" approaches these aspects and allows the statement of some suggestions for nurses who care patients with chronic disease in hospitals of communities. The main reflections, are directed toward the identification of an expert caregiver which can be approached even in situations of illness or health, applying measures of prevention and intervention.
