The Phenomenon of Chronicity: Its Impact on the Person, the Family and Nursing Care
Abstract
El incremento en la expectativa de vida y el envejecimiento de la población constituyen unas de las causas del aumento en la incidencia de enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles. Según la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), estas son la principal causa de defunción en el mundo y afectan principalmente a las personas mayores, aunque la incidencia en menores de 60 años se ha venido incrementando, como consecuencia de las enfermedades cardiovasculares, el cáncer, las enfermedades respiratorias y la diabetes (1).
