Objective: Identify the learning style that predominates among second four-month period undergraduate nursing students at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma Nursing School in Puebla (México) and guide curriculum change.
Materials and Method: An observational, transverse, descriptive study of 101 undergraduate nursing students, using the Honey- Alonso learning style questionnaire and a document with general data prepared by the researchers.
Results: 88.1% are females and the average age is 20.7. The range was 18 to 41 years. The reflective learning style was the preferred one, with a mean of 13.69 (DE = 2.962), followed by the pragmatic style, with a mean of 12.44 (DE = 2.879). No significant difference was observed for the active-theoretical learning styles (p>.902).
Conclusions: The reflective learning style scored the highest among the nursing students. It is recommended the sample be expanded to include the entire population, and the instrument be applied to teachers for the purpose of a correlation analysis.
