Abstract

This editorial proposes redefining hospitality as an added value to nursing care in contexts of increasing technification and standardization of health services. From conceptual, theoretical, and empirical perspectives, this article analyzes hospitality as an ethical and relational expression of care—understood as the genuine welcoming of patients in their vulnerability within an organizational culture oriented toward respect, empathy, and a humanized experience, which is grounded in from disciplinary perspectives such as the humanization of care, the theory of health as an expansion of consciousness, and the person-centered approach, highlighting their consistency with the ontological principles of nursing. The study also reviews experiences that demonstrate their impact on perceived quality, satisfaction, and health outcomes. Finally, the paper discusses opportunities and challenges for their sustainable integration into professional practice, organizational culture, and nursing education.
